3D MODELING AND RENDERING A CHURCH
In one of the mails I have received recently I am asked to show the complex Architectural projects I have done . In replay to that mail I thought I will share and show you some of my complex projects . I have friends who are designers and I often execute the visualization part of their design work . One among them are specialized in designing Churches . Churches basically have more intricate detailing work and mostly belong to Gothic Architecture with some native regional touch in it . The following view of church is one such project which was moderately complex .
As you can see , in this church the features are relatively simple . After the completion of this project , I am given I another plan and elevation of a church and I was asked to make a 3D model and render the project in almost 2 days . When you look at the plan and elevation it might appear as simple work . (Please click to expand each images to see an enlarged view)
But I am supposed to incorporate whole lot of detailing on individual elements like pillars , domes etc. Completing the 3D modeling part of such a huge project within the stipulated time as a challenge .
Only this elevation was given and we are supposed to visualize the rear side elevation by using the plan as the reference . I am also given the instruction that the rear side should have dome which should resemble the dome of ST.Peters Basilica at Rome designed by Michelangelo
The dome of ST.Peters Basilica and the Plan of the project (Click to see enlarged)
By keeping these details in mind I have created the solid model of this Project in around 12 hours . Solid modeling commands such a extrude , revolve and Loft is given , then the model is edited using solid editing . Please visit my channel http:/www.youtube.com/sabeercad.com and see Introduction to 3D part-1 and Part-2 to get an idea about how these commands can be executed . The following figures shows the wireframe , surface , shaded and rendered representation of this project .
The 3D model is then taken from AutoCAD to 3dSMax where in lights , camera and materials are given and rendered to generate a photo realistic output . This file is then taken to Adobe Photoshop to perform the photo editing part . You can notice the resemblance of the dome at the back with that of ST.Peters Basilica .
(Please refer my Youtube Channel to get a clear understanding of this effective procedure . You can see the 3D modeling , Rendering and Photo editing of a single storied residence there using AutoCAD , 3DSMax and Photoshop )
These are the views of two other chapels done for the same Designer .
I have also got opportunities to design mosques which are designed in Islamic Architecture . I have incorporated two mosque project views .
These are some of the complex projects I have done . The purpose of sharing this post is to give you an idea of the power of AutoCAD in making complex Architectural models . Hope this has given you some useful insights . Please share your thoughts with me .
